Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow (1967)

When I was a kid, I was fascinated with the 1960s. I still am actually.

At the same time of absorbing pop music, I had my mind, eyes and ears on as much information about the 1960s as I could. Any Beatles, Rolling Stones and Motown footage was an event. Among the many groups that mesmerized me was Jefferson Airplane.

The Block Rockin' Breaks compilation would introduce me to Today, one of the most haunting rock ballads I've ever heard. To my surprise, I would learn it joins White Rabbit & Somebody to Love on the same album.

One Sunday afternoon years ago, I was obsessed with finally bringing home Surrealistic Pillow. I visited a now defunct record store looking for it and they had no copies for sale. The store owner called another store to confirm the copy he saw was still there. Fortunately for me, and to a lesser extent the other store, I did bring home Surrealistic Pillow along with The Worst of Jefferson Airplane.

If only all my spontaneous record obsessions could manifest in my bringing home want list records that easily and more frequently.

I'll have to give that song another listening to. I can't get over the more popular songs from the album. Thanks for visiting my blog!
