The Tragically Hip

Had I not been enraptured by hip hop culture like I am, I probably would have been a bigger fan of The Tragically Hip.

As much as pop/rock was many times an afterthought for me musically during my teens and twenties, The Tragically Hip seemed to infiltrate and reach me.

Poets is still my favorite song by the group. New Orleans Is Sinking comes in a close second.

I’ve never heard an album of theirs in its entirety but recognize the distinct vocals of lead singer.

I would be very surprised to learn they haven’t been compared to R.E.M. or haven’t been called Canada’s R.E.M. in all of these years.

The band members are 2005 Canadian Music Hall of Fame Inductees and could be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
