I never doubted that the Gilles Peterson Digs compilations are packed with gems of jams.
In a sad twist of fate, my discovering Darondo’s song Didn’t I on the Gilles Peterson Digs America: Brownswood U.S.A. occurred days before the announcement of his death in mid-June 2013.
By my near 4th or 5th listen, I concluded that the compilation was primarily of jazz music with some rare soul sprinkled about.
The CD was apparently worked on the college radio circuit as such according to my brief research.
It appears that Gilles Peterson’s adding the song Didn’t I to the Digs America compilation caused the resurgence and interest in Darondo records that I bore witness to.

I was very happy and lucky to have found a CD copy of the compilation this week. I'll be even happier when I find the vinyl.
