In a sad twist of fate, my discovering Darondo’s song Didn’t I occurred days before the announcement of his death in mid-June 2013.
I was listening to the Gilles Peterson Digs America: Brownswood U.S.A. off and on for about 2 weeks and heard my first Darondo single courtesy of the compilation.
It was that same research that brought me down the path to finding out Darondo died before my writing this post.

I had seen Darondo’s name and photo for the Let My People Go album over the years but never got around to hearing any of his music.
In memory of Darondo’s passing, I already played the Dandy Teru - Untrue (True Re-Edit) and will squeeze Didn’t I onto an upcoming Suite Delight playlist.
