Auresia

From the moment I got the press release about Auresia’s December 2012 performance at Les Bobards, I knew I was going to attend.  She came highly recommended judging from the quotes of some Canadian media personalities.

I made the mistake of not noting in my agenda that I was to go to when I first got word about it.

I did however print the email and stockpiled it with other papers.  I didn’t come across that printed email until a couple of days before she was to take the stage.  When I realized the performance date was soon approaching, I prepared for that night.

It is possibly fitting that the first person that greeted me when I walked into Bobards was Auresia herself.  I was early and got to speak to the artist as her band got ready.

Auresia is a Canadian Reggae Music Award nominee as was the focus of her music that night.  On occasion, the odd Latin song was sprinkled into the set.  I rather enjoyed the Latin songs because as mentioned in a previous post, that genre of music is of particular interest to me.  As Auresia performed the  two genres of music masterfully and effortlessly, I understood why she is a multiple music award nominee.

By the end of the night, most of the Bobards audience was on their feet. I inquired about the last three Latin songs of the set that in particular the crowd reacted to.  From what I remember the songs were not yet recorded or could potentially appear on an upcoming Auresia release.  With some strong coaxing and luck, that might be remedied.

Auresia is scheduled to perform at Montreal's Club Lambi for The Queens of Reggae showcase along with Empire Isis, Kaisha Lee and others.
