I’ve known the name Ikebe Shakedown since their debut release but had not heard one song.
It’s not that I didn’t want to hear their music. It’s that so I am in contact with so much music that I cannot get to everything as quickly as I would like. I simply didn’t have the time or opportunity to browse any of the band’s songs.
When I learned the band would be performing at Montreal’s Le Belmont with The Souljazz Orchestra, I knew it would be a prime time to get familiar with their sounds.
The place was packed with people that possibly had the same game plan as me. If there were some there already familiar with both bands, then their motives were to party. I found the crowd was extremely appreciative of the Ikebe Shakedown set. The energy was high both on and off stage.
By the end of their set and prior to The Souljazz Orchestra taking the stage, I got to meet members of Ikebe Shakedown. I got to tell them that they were better than I already imagined.
Until you come to that realization on your own or experience a live performance from the band, check out the video and music.
